Leadership, Accountability, Teamwork.
Larry Oberto Hears what Seattle has been saying while on the campaign trail.
Affordability is a reoccurring component that resonates throughout almost every conversation.
The city affects affordability at every decision. As your mayor here are some things we will put focus on and improve.
We only make Seattle less affordable each time we increase tax rates. This is compounded if we do not deliver intended results for the taxes collected.
We cannot complain if we continue to allow the city to increase the cost of living through its tax programs.
We will deliver accountable results before asking for more.
When we cannot get to where we are going we waste time, spend money, pollute, and get frustrated because we are not being productive, or enjoying hobbies, family, and friends.
Allow traffic to FLOW!
Our port alone brings over One Billion Dollars a day through our city. People and business should not face additional obstructions.
We will provide a Laser focus of efficiency of government processes and costs that are restricting small business profitability. An independent business owner should not have to live outside the city it chooses to do business.
Growth, Housing, and Infrastructure:
Seattle growth is inevitable and necessary. With growth comes added stress on infrastructure and services. We need this growth to keep building supply and lowering costs. We will work to minimize this added stress on infrastructure by investing in it rather than continue to patch it.
To better care for elderly and disadvantaged is a priority with growth. An increased focus on producing productive outcomes is what we will do. We will balance the needs of our different generations and cultures with the needs of developers to produce affordable housing while allowing developers to develop.
We must protect the neighborhoods uniqueness and grow in a manner that will provide the best future for our youth.
There is the need and demand for more local schools within our city neighborhoods. I will work with both school districts and parents to assist in arriving at solutions that will best serve the families of Seattle.
More school programs that actively teach skills and motivate while learning and using the curriculum. I grew up with metal shop, wood shop, ceramics, cooking classes,…keeping students interested is paramount in learning.
An honest conversation needs to be had. There have been homeless for a thousand years. We cannot expect to toss money at it and expect success. We will put emphasis in both mental and drug counseling and also to help people before their homelessness becomes chronic.
We are committed to find solutions and to be sure that the homeless of Seattle have every opportunity to become contributing, prosperous members of society.
